Course back to normal
I am pleased to say at long last we have experienced some dry weather meaning the course is now back to normal regarding Trolleys, Buggies etc. It's also been nice to see some new faces coming out of winter hibernation.
This week we had Alisdair Beggs here from STRI which showed a good improvement in the moisture content and firmness of the greens showing the work we are doing is paying off and I'm sure Rod will be updating you in the near future when his report comes through.
With this in mind there have been some bookings made with no one turning up.
If you book and decide not to play will you please cancel it asap.
Ladies Team Stableford
The Ladies Team Stableford on Tuesday was won by Dawn Skelland, Marion Jones & Dilys Dodds with 71 points followed by Jill Holmes, Adele Barlow & The Lady Captain with 67 points.
Winter league final
After a difficult season for getting all the matches played on time, the final was played on Sunday, 13 March. Mike Edwards and Steve Brown took on Mike Merrick and Graham Wild.
The handicapping meant that Mike and Graham had ten and nine shots respectively, so the low handicappers would need to be on best form to win.
After all the poor weather the match started in unexpected spring sunshine which was welcome, although ground conditions were still soft in may areas.
Mike and Steve took an early lead but Graham and Mike Merrick were playing and dovetailing well. With a gross better ball of 36 for the first 9, it was no surprise that they were 3 up at the turn. Holes were swapped on the second 9, but Graham and Mike held on to their half lead, to run out 3 and 2 winners.
Congratulations to them as they win the Ken Holmes Winter League Trophy.
Commiserations to Mike Edwards and Steve Brown, there was not a lot more they could do on the day.
Pro's Competition
For those of you around over the Easter weekend I will be running a Pros Comp on the Saturday as we have no competition on and there are still a few odd spaces for this weekends competition if any of you want to play.
Yellow Tee Competition - 19 March 2016
This Competition was original listed in the fixtures as a Medal but due to the ongoing work/recovery of the 10th green and the current condition of the course the Handicap Committee decided to change the format to a Stableford Competition which will be played over 17 Holes.
This Competition will also be a Non Qualifier but all scores must be entered in the computer and all players are asked to enter a zero for the 10th hole. The competition on the 2 April 2016 will also change format and become a Medal Competition played from the Yellow Tees.
The large coloured fixture list on the board in the locker room has been amended to account for these changes.
