Pros news

Injured in the stands...

I have just about recovered from Liverpool's win against Borussia Dortmund!!! When the 4th goal went in someone fell on top of me from the row behind and kicked me in the calf so I got more injured watching then I do playing!!!

Hopefully now we can continue to the final and claim a Champions League spot. Luckily, although it was a great win on Wednesday night against a very disappointing Everton side I suffered no more injuries.

Competition news

Early Spring Stableford

Aaron Cove continued his good form winning the Early Spring Stableford with a great score of 40 points.

I know it was a shock to a lot of you going back to the white Tees. I have listed the results below from Div 1 as all the scores listed were great scores on a cold windy day.

There were 28 twos worth £5.85 each.

Division 1

- Winner - Aaron Cove,  40 pts (06)
- Runner-Up - William Glew,  36 pts (06)
- 3rd -  P. Jordan, 36 pts (05)

Peter Johnson was the convincing winner of Div 2 with another great score of 38 points and again.

- Winner - Peter Alan Johnson,  38 pts (19)
- Runner-Up - Malcolm Kaye,  35 pts (19)
- 3rd - Keith Joseph Weaver,  35 pts (17)

By the time you read this the online booking will be available for the PPS on Thursday, 5 May.

Please remember if you book online the booking must be paid for in the shop by Monday, 2 May at 9.00am.

Ladies news

The Ladies Grandmother's Trophy on Tuesday over 15 holes was won by Collie Faulkner with 31 points beating Jan Evans into 2nd place who had 30 points. The other Ladies played a 15 hole Stableford which Barbara Henshaw won with 31 points followed by Joan Harper with 30 points.

Tour news

Valderama

The Pros certainly found Valderama tough last week. Its the first time in over 20 years a Tour Event has been won with an over par score. It ended up being very close with Andrew Johnston coming out on top. Over in the States at Hilton Head Luke Donald had his best finish in a long time.

Both courses are not the longest with small greens making accuracy very important. You could be in the middle of the fairway having to manoeuvre the ball up round or under trees. It was also good to see another member of the European Tour Brandon Grace winning for the first time in the States. This week the Tours move onto Texas and China for the European event.

Charity day

Charity News Update

The Captain has now registered his team with Macmillan Cancer Trust for the Longest Day Challenge on Sunday, 26 June. The team is named Bromborough1 and includes Captain, Steve O'Donoghue, Paul Lloyd and Marc Howard. The day starts by 6am and 4 rounds of golf will be played.

There is a web link to make donations to their charity efforts at www.JustGiving.com/Joe-GrahamBrom and this is now ready to use. Also you can make donations through any team member at any time so please help us to raise funds for this very needy cause. Details are also displayed on posters around the club house is you need more information.

Further to this team Captains for other groups have also volunteered to complete this challenge and they include Aaron Cove, Loz Creed and Ray Bobby. If you are willing to play then contact them or the Captain to get in one of the teams.

Finally an update on the Charity 18th bunkers - Graham Wild proposed if anyone in the bunker holes their shot then his playing partners pay the charity penalty so this is now in play.
