Well Done Day

The Players Championship was great viewing with Jason Day comfortably winning even though it looked like he was giving the others a chance in the 3rd round when a couple of the greens looked unputtable from certain areas. 

The scoring was excellent and 63 round there is fantastic golf, having played there a number of times. The only chance of me doing that would be to miss a few holes out! In relation to outfits: you wont be seeing Rory McIlroy's new jogging trousers or whatever they are called for Sale in the shop! 

This week the European Tour moves closer to home, to Ireland, with the PGA Championship at Wentworth the following week.

 

Greens Augusta Worthy

The greens have sped up a bit after a 2nd verticut. They were just over 9 on Tuesday on the Stimpmeter. A few complaints about unrepaired pitch marks on Saturday, so please look out for them and if you cant find your own do someone else's. Unfortunately it's now that time of year when the Poa annua is seeding, but from a positive point of view we have a good coverage of grass on the greens.



Socksy Rolls Back The Years
 
Iain Hughes, or Socksy to a lot of you, rolled back the years on Saturday to win the Spring Meeting with (nett 70) on a card playoff from John Sadler (nett 70) and Peter Courtenay (surprise: nett 70). 

Div 2 was also won with a nett 70 by John Duffy, followed by Tim Hennessy (nett 72) and Brian Daly (nett 73) who beat Dan Sharp & Steve O'Donoghue on a card playoff. 

There were 23 Twos worth £7.20 each.

Men's Invitation Now Open

The entry sheet is now available in the shop for the 1st Men's Invitation on Sunday, 12 June, and the entry for the plate is also available and which closes on Wednesday, 8 June.

Caroline Continues...

Caroline continued her good form winning Div 1 of the Ladies Stableford on Tuesday with 36 points. Margaret Nelson beat Barbara Henshaw on a card playoff into 2nd place with 32 points. 

Pam Mitchell won Div 2 with 35 points with Gill Arthur beating Sharon Evans into 2nd place on a card playoff with 31 points. 

Div 3 was won by Deidre Watson with 36 points with Gill Martindale beating Joan Harper on a card playoff with 28 points.

 

Ladies Off To A Flyer

I am pleased to say our Ladies Get into Golf Taster session went very well last weekend with over 30 Ladies attending. I would like to Thank Caroline the organiser, Alex and Rod Backhouse helped with the coaching as well as: The Lady Captain, Sharon Evans, Jan Randles, Shan Littler,Margaret Nelson, Julie Money, Louise McLoughlin & Barbara Henshaw. 

Alex and I will now be following up these sessions with hourly sessions on the Practice ground on Sundays between 11.30 am & 12.30pm and Monday Evenings between 6.00pm & 7.00pm so if any of you are wishing to practice avoid these times as the Practice Ground will be in use.
