Tour news

Rory wins his home event

Rory
came back to form winning the Irish Open last week by three shots eradicating the two or three bad shots he was hitting each round. See my video of the week below to see perhaps his best shot of the week, his approach to 18.

Bradley
Dredge had his best finish of the season tying 2nd with Russell Knox. It was also good to see Sergio triumph in the States winning the Byron Nelson Classic his first victory for four years after a playoff with Brooks Koepka

Course news

The latest from Rod

Just in case you haven't seen it Rod's latest piece is below to keep you up to date with what's going on on the course.

Greens News - 23.05.16

This week I am listing the jobs and actions to be completed this week. I hope you find it easier to scan the topics rather than having to read a more extensive narrative from me.

1. Greens - actions for this week: a. Monday - 6.30 am - start solid tine & top dress b. Tuesday - 6.30 am continue solid tine & top-dress c. Wednesday - complete solid tining & top-dressing d. Continue to cut at 4.00mm & roll

2. Fairways - have been fertilised and with the recent rain should show improvement very quickly.

3. Rough - Very dense at this time of year (same every year) a. Presently cutting at 75 mm b. We shall reduce height of cut to 50 mm for the next couple of weeks owing to the vigorous present growth. c. Focus the cutting of the rough beyond 150 yards from the white tees for additional cut as appropriate.

4. 5 th Fairway Damage a. We have now re-turfed the damaged area across the fairway - the other poor areas will be repaired in autumn/winter.

5. 10th Hole a. Now fully in play - the turf is now looking much better. b. "Hoops" are to spread the foot traffic away from pinch point at end of bunker. c. Damaged area near 11th tee to be repaired autumn/winter.

6. Trolleys a. Some members are taking trolleys onto greens surrounds - please make sure that you keep well away from the greens with trolleys. As a general rule, trolleys should always be outside the line of the greenside bunkers. I shall keep you posted about the course in the coming weeks. Enjoy your golf!
