Club news

Stableford Cup

Scoring was good once again in the Stableford Cup last Saturday with the overall winner being Dave Henry from Div 2 with 40 points followed by Aled Jarvis with 39 points and in 3rd Dan Sharp with 38 points. The Div 1 winner was Ian McCloy with 39 points followed by Steve Davies with 38 points who beat Tony Gallaway into 3rd on a card playoff with Mark Richards finishing 4th on a card playoff.

There were 19 twos worth £8.55 each. We still have some spots available for the Invitation on Sunday and the trial stroke index competition on Saturday. If you would like to play please call me and I will add you to the system as it wont let you add your name to a time that already has times booked against it.

Those of you playing Sunday morning the course must be free at 12.45 and you can start when you want.

Sporting news

With the Olympics being on I have watched some sports I wouldn't normally do and like golf these days the standard is exceptional.

The Ladies road race on Sunday was great to watch with an awful crash and the American rider being caught just before the finish.

I was pleased to see the Dutch Rider was recovering in hospital ending up with three cracked vertebrae which was a lot better than I thought it was going to be seeing her lying motionless on the side of the road.

Hopefully the golf will be good to watch this week with Justin Rose & Danny Willett both doing well.

It was great to see Jim Furyk shoot the first 58 on the PGA Tour last week although it still wasn't good enough to beat Russell Knox who holed a great 12 foot putt on the last to win the Travellers Championship.

We have had some great comments about the course this week. Jason at long last managed to get a dry cut on the semi rough which has bought 95% of it down to the same length.

Many of you will have noticed some of the long grass has been cut down by the farmer. There are still some other areas to finish off which will hopefully be done in the near future.

Video of the week

There's always going to be an element of luck with any hole-in-one, but this is something else! Sadly for Thomas Bjørn, it won't go down as a competitive ace.. Still… worth a watch.
