Sunday Invitation

Frank Howell and his brother Maurice won the Invitation on Sunday with a great score of 46 points. 

There quick walk from the 3rd tee to the 4th before they started obviously set the adrenalin flowing!!! 

In 2nd place on a card playoff with 45 points was Graham Pitt and his partner Gary Bickerstaff. They beat Mark Doolan and his partner Andy Jones into 3rd place. 

PPS 10 was won by Paul Smith with a great score of 41 points beating Roger Hazlewood who came second with a score of 38 points. Closely behind in third was Jim Harvey with a score of 37 points. 

The PPS Eclectic was won by Paul Halliwell with a gross score of 61 and a nett score of 58.5, second was Aaron Cove with a gross score of 62 and a nett score of 60 and in third was Richard Fitzgerald with a gross score of 61 and a nett score of 60.5. 

Phil Jordan was the winner of the stroke index trial competition with a great score of 41 point narrowly beating Paul Halliwell who came second with a score of 40 point. Tony Galloway was in third place with another great score of 39 points. 

Thanks to all participants in this trial competition, it has allowed for much information to be gathered and assessed for the future. One of my start pupils Joan Harper beat my other half Caroline Berry on a card playoff to win the Sue Harvey Trophy on Tuesday with a great score of 39 points. 

Rose Gold

It was great to see Justin Rose win the gold medal at the Olympics after a great tussle with Henrik Stenson. Justin's 3rd shot to the 18th showed pure class and it was great to see how much it meant to him. 

Lets hope that's done enough to encourage the Olympic committee to keep it in the sports for the future Olympics after Tokyo and the players who opted out this time will make sure they don't miss it next time. 

I am also pleased I don't have to listen to the guys who were commentating every week as I think I would turn the volume down!!! 

Football is back

Finally with the football season with us again I hope Liverpool don't treat us to to many more nerve wrecking last 30 minutes after taking comfortable leads as I maybe paying a visit to the doctors for some blood pressure tablets!!!

 

Out on the course Jason has starting cutting down some of the rough on the right hand side of the 13th tee and will continue to cut down a few other problem areas as soon as time allows. 

We also had a visit from Alistair Beggs this week from STRI which showed some very positive data which I'm sure Rod will be updating you with on his next Greens update.
