Congratulations this week go to Aaron Cove who despite taking a 6 on the 18th (course management issues) won the Simon Marron Trophy with a great score of 75-8-67 showing he does do what I've been teaching him for the last few years now and again!!!!
Simon won the Captains Prize at 17 years old and I'm sure would be delighted another Junior at 17 won his trophy. In 2nd place was Jim Hughes with 82-12-70 and Rob Stenton 3rd with 84-13-71.
Class B was won by Jim Mckenzie with 87-17-70 followed by 4 nett 72's with John Colligan 88-16-72 finishing 2nd and Carl Syvret 94-22-72 beating Clive Plummer and Bryn Jones on a card playoff.
I am away on caddying duties for Caroline this week in the English Seniors stroke play at Knaresborough and am hoping the prize and the PING putters will have arrived this week so we can hold the best putter in the club competition on Saturday.
I will be setting a course out Saturday morning so it will be better if the early starters have a go when they finish and anyone starting after 9 o'clock can do it before of after they play.
Paul Waring starts a 4-week run on tour hoping for some good finishes to get him into the Open. This week he is in Ireland followed by Germany, France and Scotland.
I have just had 24 Dozen Pro V1's arrived in the shop stamped with The Open Championship. If any one buys a dozen they have a chance to win a Titleist Stand Bag worth £99 once the 24 dozen are sold.
