I hope you all enjoyed the Open last week those of you Marshalling and those of you who went to watch. I noticed no one disobeying Darren Helsby as he ushered people across the fairway as Rory & Rickie approached in the final round and I enclose of our Marshalling team enjoying a well earned drink at the end. I managed to make it down on Sunday watching from the stands on the 7th & 16th.

I was glad Rory won as I think he would have got a lot of bad press had he not after having a 6 shot lead going into the last round. It was also good to see pace of play being pretty quick with Sergio & Dustin Johnson playing the first 9 in 1 hour 36 minutes. They do seem to playing a different game these days with Rory hitting a 5 irons 220 yards through the air on the green on the 18th in the 3rd round.

The competition here on Saturday was abandoned with the early morning rain but after 9.30 it stopped and the forecast was once again wrong. The course was looking a lot better for the rain though with a lot of compliments coming from visitors who played last week. There are still however a lot of pitch marks on the greens so if you cant find you own please repair one you can find. Playing Tuesday evening I was doing between 10 & 15 a green.

Caroline had a great score of 75-1-74 after a 10 day break to win the Ladies Medal on Tuesday and also reduce her handicap to scratch again. That should put her in a better mood as I was in the doghouse for not cutting the lawns while she was away! Val Corcoran was 2nd with 105-28-77 and Gill O'Neill 3rd with 96-18-78.

The Invitation sheet is now out for Sunday 17th August which will be a shotgun Start at 1.00pm and we have plenty of times available in the afternoon for this weekends July Stableford and the following weeks Presidents putter.
