Competition news

The bad weather continues

Unfortunately the weather won the competition on Saturday again!!! The Greenstaff and I cleared any overnight water lying on the greens first thing Saturday morning and then after phoning the Met Office they said we would be clear by 10.00 am but that never materialised so the course eventually had to be closed as it had become unplayable.

The Club Foursomes qualifier which is on Saturday 21st April now has no minimum handicap restrictions so please book as normal from Friday 6th April on the booking system.

The photo shows our new Course Manager Darren Anderson who came down to the club for Sunday lunch last week with his family for those of you who may not have seen it on the website.

The continual bad weather has also resulted in Ladies matches and several society visits having to be rescheduled so some fixtures in the diary may not be going ahead and will appear in the Club Diary on the website at a later date.

When booking tee times please remember we now book every weekday apart from the members hour between 1.00 pm & 2.00 pm and all day at weekends.

The heavy rain meant the Ladies Stableford on Tuesday was played over 14 holes.

Caroline Berry won Div 1 with 28 Pts followed by Amanda Dixon with 26 pts. Shan Ashcroft won Div 2 with 21 pts followed by Amanda Martlew with 18 pts. Div 3 was won by Sue Garner with 23 pts followed by Deidre Watson with 22 pts who beat Wendy Ferguson on a card playoff.

Houston Open

It was compulsive viewing last Sunday night watching Ian Poulter eventually win and qualify for the Masters. At one stage it looked like it was going to be easy then his putter cooled off a bit as he failed to birdie the easier holes at the start of the back 9 whilst Beau Hossler birdied 4 on the trot and then to hole a 25 footer on the 18th to get in a playoff was fantastic. Lets hope he hasn't run out of steam this week.
