Competition news

A tough day for scoring

Scoring was once again tough on Saturday with Brian Newman winning Division 1 with 37 points. Jamie Thompson was second on a card playoff from John Dermott, Brian Davies and Steve Barry who all finished tied 3rd.

The best score of the day was in Division 2 with Chris Harris getting 39 points followed by Paul Williams with 37 points who beat Steve Barry on a card playoff.

There were 12 Twos worth £13.50

There were a few mishaps Saturday with the first three groups starting on the Yellow Tees and two groups of 2 balls joining up as a fourball.

The next competition on a Saturday off the Yellow Tees is the July Medal on Saturday, 21 July.

Ladies news

The Ladies Spring Meeting on Tuesday was won convincingly by Amanda Dixon with a great score of 83-12-71. The best score in Division 2 was Jackie Johnston with 106-26-80 and in Division 3 Julie Money 110-36-74.

Well done to all the ladies who took part.

Preffered lies

For this weekend’s competition preferred lies will remain in place and will be reviewed by Clive and Roger next week.

Thanks to all of you who ordered the Pro V1’S on the 4 for 3 deal which once again proved very successful. The last few are still to arrive but those ordered a couple of weeks ago are here for you to pick up.

It's 14 clubs for a reason

This week marks the start of a series of articles where we focus on making sure that you are getting the very most out of the clubs in your bag. A key way to do this is to look at your set as one, rather than breaking it down into woods, irons and wedges.

What does your set look like?
As you know, we’re big advocates of custom fitting for golfers of all standards. Many of you have taken advantage of this and are now hitting the ball further and straighter than you ever have before.

While this is fantastic, if you’re hitting your woods further you may have been left with a fiddly gap to your longest iron; likewise, if your new irons are a club longer then you will inevitably have a gap after your PW.

Look at your clubs as a whole
It’s only by looking at your set as a whole that you’ll be able to spot and react to any gaps, meaning you’ll have a club for every shot you could face on the course.
