The Autumn Meeting produced some great gross scores especially as the weather was windy and the course very wet and the greens slower after the recent rainfall. John Sadler won Div 1 with a 71-3-68 beating Bob Taylor on a card playoff and also beating Kevin Brown 71-2-69 on a card playoff for the gross prize.
Div 2 was won by Phil Woolland with another great score of 87-18-69 followed by John Webb 86-15-71 and John Hall 3rd with 87-15-72 beating Dave Kirkwood & Ben Rowland on a card playoff.
The Ladies competition on Tuesday was won by Div 1 Amanda Dixon 36 pts closely followed by Jill Holmes with 35pts. Div 2 was won comfortably again!!! by Jan Randles with a great score of 43 pts. I'm sure Glen got a nice meal that night!!! in 2nd place was Jackie Johnston with 33pts. Div 3 was won by Marion Jones with 33pts followed by Maureen O'shea with 32pts.
This weekend we have 8finals going out Saturday between 1.00pm& 2.15pm and the Captains semi final & final on Sunday where Gary Crowder is playing Andy Wilkinson and Glynn Hughes is playing John Cubbin.
The Liverpool Alliance has been moved from Wednesday October 1st to Wednesday, 17th September from 8.00/11.00 am Those of you who play early can always tee off the 10th and reserve a tee time on the 1st after 11.00am. Wednesday, 10th September we have a large group going out from 12.45 so those of you who normally play between 1.00/2.00 pm please come earlier if you can. The morning is not that busy at present so teeing off the 10th shouldn't be too much of a problem.
I mentioned earlier the greens were slow due to the recent wet weather. We measured them on Wednesday at just over 8 on the stimp meter and the better weather this week will hopefully dry them out meaning they will speed up. They have also been double verticut this week to eliminate the movement as the ball goes across the mower cut line. This action produces the corduroy effect some of you may have seen on them this week. I must also mention pitch marks which were terrible Monday & Tuesday this week when I played. Any shot played when the greens are soft from no matter how far will produce a mark so if you cant find your own pleaase repair another one.
New in the shop this week we have a FootJoy promotion where if you buy a pair of Dryjoy Tour or FootJoy Sport shoes you get a free FootJoy Brolley worth £40.
There is also a deal on Titleist Pro V1 where anyone who buys 2 dozen gets a limited edition cap FREE whilst stocks last. There is also a great deal on some brown Footjoy Contour shoes which are reduced from £99.99 to £69.99 whilst stocks last.
I can mention Football again now after Liverpool's convincing win at Tottenham which I wasn't expecting after the Man City game but after watching Chelsea at Everton last Saturday I feel they will be the team to beat this year. It will also be great to see Real Madrid at Anfield in a few weeks in the Champions League my only disappointment being they have just sold Xabi Alonso one of my favourite players which will hopefully work in our favour.
