BROMBOROUGH GOLF CLUB - GREENS INFORMATION NOTICE
W/C 15TH SEPTEMBER 2014.
We have commenced an experimental programme of thinning selected areas of rough in line with the STRI Ecology Five Year Plan. The object of this exercise is to produce "wispy" rough. It provides benefits to us in that it needs cutting only twice a year; it is ecologically beneficial and adds definition to the course. We start this week on the 11th, 15th and 9th/18th holes - the programme is as follows:
1. Rough is cut to 50mm (about the same height as now)
2. The selected areas will be "brushed" to stand up the grasses
3. A product called "Rescue" is sprayed to the areas - this kills selected, undesirable broad leafed grasses
4. In three to four weeks, the dead grass will be evident and we shall then scarify the selected areas collecting the grass for disposal.
The time consuming element of the job is the scarification and collection of the cut grass. Please be patient if this work is going on and wait to play until the scarifier has completed its run.
