The Stableford off the Yellow tees on Saturday was won in Div 1 by Simon Newcombe with 40pts closely followed by the inform Bob Taylor with 39pts who beat Malcolm Watters on a card playoff. Div 2 saw the best score of the day by Hugh Jones with 42 pts followed by John Moore with 38pts who beat Gary Molyneaux on a card playoff.

With the weather taking a turn for the worse this week things have been pretty quiet at the club. My winter clothing has certainly come out of the wardrobe. The course is playing longer with the wet conditions so remember to take more club now there is less roll.

The greens are now softer so please repair pitch marks which will now be far more evident. We also seem to have a few foxes around as some bunkers have seen some burrowing going on. If you see this and have time please give a quick rake so someone behind doesn't end up in a hole.

Finally new in the shop this week to coincide with the poor weather we have Titleist & FootJoy rain caps and bucket hats in various sizes. Sorry my newsletter is a bit short this week but I have been in Harrogate at the 2014 Golf Show seeing some of the new clothing & equipment for next year and as you read this I will be playing golf in Portugal in Dave Kimpton's 3 day Ryder Cup competition where this time I'm playing for Europe. The forecast unfortunately is not too good out there so hopefully I won't be getting wet.
