Congratulations Louise!

It’s been a great and busy past week for the Golf Club starting with Louise Mcloughlin winning Young Ambassador of the year at The England Golf awards last week.

Competition news

Home International Championship

We had the Home International Championship last weekend which was a very close affair with Scotland coming out on top by a point from Ireland. One of the highlights of the day was Denis Munro’s hole in one on the 4th and the best score of the day was Karl Adams with 44 points followed by Denis Munro & Steve Lewis with 42 points.

There were 12 Twos plus Denis’s hole in one which worked out at £3.90 a share.

Saturday’s competition

The competition is full on Saturday with the last tee time 4 hours before sunset, so it is imperative that rounds do not take over the maximum allowed of 4 Hours 10 minutes to enable the later players to finish there round.

It is a stableford so if you can’t score please pick up your ball. The course has been cut out this week and is looking much better and we will be reverting back to the normal course order from Saturday so please avoid walking on any newly turfed areas between the 1st and 16th greens.

Captains Drive in

The Captains Drive in took place Sunday morning with plenty of Sporting activity’s taking place. I am sure Hugh was worn out by the time he drove in after kicking Rugby Balls, facing an over of cricket and hitting exploding golf balls as seen in the attached photo.

Ladies Greensome

The Ladies Greensome competition on Tuesday was won by Caroline Berry and 90 year old Mary Gilbert a fantastic achievement and I’m sure she carried Caroline all the way round! They won with a great score of 40 points followed by Wendy Ferguson & Pam Mitchell with 39 points.

Upcoming events...

Please remember from April 1st the member’s hour moves to 1.00pm /2.00pm and we start booking tee times between 2.00pm & 6.00pm. Once again may I ask you to cancel your tee times if you decide not to play?

The course has had a cut this week and is looking much better. I also had a number of complaints last weekend regarding pitch marks so please if you can’t find yours repair someone else’s.

The first Sunday WR&Y is on 7th April. We have allocated two reserved times for the competition between 11.30/12.00 and 1.30/2.00 but please remember you can play anytime of the day. Please pay in the pro shop before play, the normal £2 Entry Fee & £1 Ball sweep.
