A word from the Pro

The weather has once again seen all of this weeks competition called off.

I had a walk of the course last Saturday morning and saw water in places I have never seen before, which i think shows you just how much rain we've had here since the new year.

All we can do is pray for some good weather sp the course can dry out and we can all get back out on the golf course and get going with the 2020 season.

Speaking of getting back out on the course, please remember that entries to the Captains prize close this weekend so if you want to play the sheet is in the locker room to put your name down.

We launched this last week and the initial take up has been phenomenal!

It's not just about making sure you replace the grips on your clubs every year. Instead, we want you to have the correct sized grip and the right type of grip (tacky, chorded and so on) too.

Tour news

A good weekend for Paul

Paul Waring had a good weekend last week finishing tied 25th in Oman but unfortunately has had to pull out of this weeks event due to a sore neck.

He now has a few weeks to recover before his next event.

Elsewhere, Sung-jae Im mastered the Bear Trap on Sunday to claim his maiden PGA Tour title with a one-shot victory at the Honda Classic.

Both Tommy Fleetwood and Mackenzie Hughes were attempting to chase the South Korean down but Im played what is widely regarded as the hardest three holes on the PGA Tour (15 through 17 on the Champion Course – Palm Beach Gardens) in 2-under to open up a one-shot cushion he wouldn’t relinquish coming up the 18th.

 
 
 
 
The art of putting

‘Drive for show, putt for dough’. No doubt you have heard this one a few times before but considering putting equates to between 30 to 50% of our shots on the course, it also has a large element of truth in it.

The whole puzzle

If you're considering buying new irons this year, have a think about how they are going to blend into the rest of your set. The idea is to have equal yardage gaps between each club in your bag so, if you are going to treat yourself, it might be worth replacing a long iron with a hybrid that is easier to hit.

PING G410 hybrids

Take danger out of play

The illustration here is a good example of where a hybrid comes in handy. When our driver brings danger into play and a long-iron leaves us too far to the green, a hybrid is the perfect option.
