Winter Rules We now have Winter Rules in place so please read below so you are familiar with them. Local rule - improved lies 1. Improved Lies conditions are in operation from 1 October 2020. In the General Area, relief may be taken by marking the ball, lifting and placing it within 6 inches of the spot, not nearer the hole. The ball may be cleaned when lifted. The lie may only be improved once. 2. In addition, in non-closely mown areas – Winter 2020-21 When a ball comes to rest in a non-closely mown area in the General Area (Defined in Rule 2.2 as the entire course except the teeing ground and green of the hole being played, penalty areas and bunkers) the ball may be marked, lifted and cleaned. After cleaning the ball, it must be dropped from knee height as close as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole. The provisions in the 2nd part are applicable for all golf at Bromborough Golf Club except; Handicap Qualifying Competitions, Supplementary Score recording, Foursomes Qualifier, and Initial Rounds of Summer Knock-Out Competitions. The penalty for breaching the local rule is: Match Play – Loss of Hole; Stroke Play – Two Strokes Notes regarding relief for the ball in non-closely mown areas. This local rule was previously referred to as the mud-ball rule. As the interpretation could not be accurately determined in each situation, the rule has been extended to all such situations. As close as possible is interpreted as being over the spot from which the ball was first lifted, but not nearer the hole. If other conditions are encountered where relief is available, such as tractor marks or an embedded ball, relief must be taken in accordance with the relevant rule. When Summer Conditions are introduced this Local Rule will lapse. |
