Pro's news

Live European Tour Golf returns next week

I hope you are all well during this latest lockdown and thanks to those of you who have been in contact during the past week. As well as football, at least we had some live golf to watch over the last weekend. Next week also sees the start of the European tour season in Abu Dhabi followed by Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Paul Waring flew out yesterday so let’s hope we see him get some coverage and some good finishes over the coming three weeks.

New Year, New Gear!

Last week I mentioned about some new arrivals, and as some of you will know, the new PING G425 range of Drivers, Fairways, Hybrids & Irons are due out in early February and the new TaylorMade SIM 2 range are also due out in Mid-February.

We have both of these new ranges due in and if you would like any information on either please don’t hesitate to contact me. As before we will be having Demo days throughout the year which will be advertised through this newsletter and will have fitting components in the shop which you can try as well as being fitted by us.

Golf on Tour

English top in Hawaii

Tour golf is very much a way of life and an unforgiving one at that. As recently as 2019, Harris English was struggling to return to the PGA Tour, having lost his card and been demoted to the Korn Ferry Tour (this is the feeder tour to the PGA, much like the Challenge Tour in Europe).

Now, English is a PGA Tour champion once again. The 31-year-old picked up his first victory since 2013 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii, having fought off Justin Thomas’ pursuit of a third title in five years at the event. What an achievement, and one for the sentimentalists.

Major signing for Callaway

We'd normally try to build the suspense a little bit as to which player has chosen to put Callaway clubs in the bag moving forward, but the picture gives it away somewhat.

As you can see, it's world number two, Jon Rahm!

Apparently, the Spaniard carded a course-record 59 the first time he took to the course with his new bag. So, if you wanted to follow in Rahm's footsteps and give Callaway a try, it's available in the pro shop.
