Competition news

April Stableford

Paul Adams won Div 1 with a great score of 40 points to win the April Stableford followed by Ryan Cawley with 38 points who beat Steve Stewart on a card playoff. Div 2 was won by Peter Bernard with 42 points followed by Chris Beaumont with 38 points and Mike Georgio with 37 points.
There were 31 Twos worth £7.35

Your entry time is the key for the Committee to be able to record and check your card with the entry sheet. That time needs to be entered.

So do the intermediate time for 6 holes, 12 holes, and after completion of all 18 holes. Players expect us to monitor the pace of play and this is a vital tool to identify bottlenecks and incidences of slow play.

The Wray

The Wray on Sunday was won by Luke Brady with 40 points followed by Wendy Ferguson with 37 points who beat Andy Murphy on a card playoff.

Plenty of new items still arriving

Thanks to all of you who tried out the PING clubs that were here for 10 days. I will soon have a more comprehensive range of trial clubs here permanently to go with our TaylorMade SIM2 and Callaway Epic Drivers which you can all be fitted for with our new GC Quad fitting device.

I am pleased to say at long last the Under Armour range of clothing has arrived with shoes on the way and Skechers shoes will hopefully arrive over the next few days.

When it rains it pours...

They say ‘when it rains, it pours’ and Max Kieffer was soaked after sticking three balls in the water on the fifth play-off hole of the European Tour’s Austrian Open. America’s John Catlin proceeded to lift his third trophy in 13 European Tour starts.

On the LPGA Tour, former World No. 1 Lydia Ko stormed her way back into the winning circle with a seven-stroke victory at the Lotte Championship. An emphatic -28 winning score ended the New Zealander’s three-year winless run. We can only wonder what’s to come!

The benefits of lasers

We can expect to hear plenty of chatter over the next month about the use of laser rangefinders at the upcoming PGA Championship. Many golfers have already invested in GPS technology to help them tackle the course, but a Bushnell laser might just be the final piece of the jigsaw.
