I must start this week by mentioning Steve Dermott winning last week's PPS 2 with a great score of 44 points which was 3 under par gross and included a 2 on the 1st. In 2nd place was Jim Harvey with 40 points who signed his card this week so wasn't disqualified!!! In 3rd place with 39 points was Steve Brennan. We also had 93 entries which is the most ever for a PPS.
The Ladies Texas Scramble on Tuesday was won by Carole Collins, Colinda Faulkner, Sue James & Maureen O'Shea with a net score of 60.5 followed by Carol Gunn, Deidre Watson, Anita Robinson & Pam Mitchell with 62.
For those of you who play on Thursday mornings, the Ladies Invitation played on Thursday 4th June will now be reserved from 10.30 not 9.30 as in the fixture book if you want to play.
The weekend was very quiet but thanks to those of you who entered the Pros comp with Jamie Roach winning with 40 points followed by Howard Dodd with 39 and Peter Watson 3rd with 35 points. There were no twos so I have added this to the prize fund and credited the relative accounts.
Apologies to those of you who were attending the Callaway Demo Day Wednesday which unfortunately had to be cancelled at the last minute as the Demo Rep had his van broken into and all his clubs stolen. I am trying to get one rearranged as soon as possible to minimise the inconvenience for those of you who were booked in and I will let you know as soon as I have the new date.
We are now at the time of year when the grass on the course is growing quicker than the greenstaff can cut it. On the greens we still have the problem of the bent grass growing more than the meadow grass on the greens making them look a little uneven. This could also be seen at Wentworth over last weekend where from above the greens looked very patchy and uneven once again due to the very cold spring we have experienced. Once the weather warms up we should at last see even growth but looking at the forecast this isn't going to happen till the end of next week at the earliest.
