The sheets are out in the shop for the Club Championship which closes on Wednesday and the George Wallace for over 65s which is played on Wednesday so please pop in to enter.
We had plenty of positive comments about the course on Wednesday for the Bromborough bowl which was won by Matt Robinson from Eaton with two good scores of 71 & 72 with Rob Cull coming 3rd with 75 & 73.
Also after watching the US Open at Chambers Bay last weekend we hopefully won't get too many complaints in the future about the Greens as I thought they looked awful and didn't putt much better!!! I don't think I have ever seen as many short putts missed in a Major Tournament.
Our greens have certainly come on since the latest fertiliser application last week and it has also been helped by soil temperatures getting to where they should be. The very cold spring has affected greens all over the country according to Emma Beggs who came down from STRI to have a look at the greens on Wednesday. The other week we still had areas of Meadow Grass that hadn't started growing but I'm pleased to say at long last it has which is making the ball roll on the greens.
Last week I was away on caddying duties for 3 days down in Bournemouth where Caroline played in the English Seniors at Broadstone finishing a creditable 5th moving her up to 6th in the order of merit so she now has a chance of being selected to play for England in the European Team Championships in Lithuania at the beginning of September. It's a course well worth playing if you are down that way.
Finally thanks to all of you who attended the Callaway demo day last Friday which was a great success and I am hoping to get another organised for a couple of hours in the near future.
