I'm pleased to say the weather stayed fine for the finals weekend although cold on Sunday. The Captains final between John Clegg & Dav Lynch Smith was a very tight affair going to the 18th. John eventually came out on top winning the 18th to win 1 up. In the morning John had beaten Brian Roach and Dav had beaten Phil Dabbs.

We have a few spots left for this weekend's St Andrews meeting in the afternoon and gaps are on the sheet for the September Stableford a week later.

The results of the Saturday Finals were:

Plate final - John Duffy beat Oliver Dillon 
Foursomes Final - Rod Backhouse & Steve Jones beat Tom Jones & John Boyd 
Matrimonial final - The Martindales beat The Nugents 
Arthur Bulivant - Tony Egan beat Mike Heathfield 
Junior Senior final - Connor Crowder & Steve Stewart beat Ben & John Edwards 

Caroline had a mixed week in Lithunia in the European Team Championships playing not so well in the strokeplay qualifying but then playing well in the Matchplay knockout stages winning her Quarter Final & Semi Final matches against Spain & Germany. England unfortunately lost two matches on the 19th in the final to France 3-2 of which Caroline's match was one of them. 

I hope you all enjoyed the golf over the weekend from Boston. What a great golf course TPC Boston is I would love to play there sometime. It was a great finish with Henrik Stenson and Rickie Fowler playing some great golf with Wayne Riley also on top form with his on course commentary.

Winter League

Entries for the Winter League are now invited - see notice in the locker room. Please hand me the entry fee of £15 in an envelope with the names of the 2 players. If you could have the correct money that would help as we always seem to be short of £5 notes.

Please let me have this as soon as possible and in any event before the closing date for entries of 27 September.

If you wish to play but do not have a regular partner, please let me know and I will try and match you with another player.
