Greetings from Geoff Berry
Bromborough Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

It was certainly a very eventful weekend of golf with Jason Day storming to victory in Chicago, the Suzanne Peterson incident at the Solheim Cup which I thought was dreadful and I'm pleased she has since apologised. I wasn't bothered that the USA won after that although I did feel sorry for Charley Hull.

The September Stableford was again won by John Mooney with a great score of 42 points followed by Steve Stewart with 39 points who obviously putted better than he has been!!! Steve beat Neil Dermott who was 3rd on a card playoff with Ben Keegan also with 39 points in 4th after starting the 18th at 1 under par and finishing with a 9. Sorry to mention it Ben!!! Tom Jones won Div 2 with 38 points followed by Peter Roberts with 37 points and Dan Sharp with 36 points who beat Gary Molyneaux & Paul Gordon on a card playoff.

The winner of the Gordon Edwards Junior Knockout was Oliver Dillon who beat Zack Mason in the final on Sunday.

Congratulations to Jan Mcgowan who is going to be the Captain of the Cheshire Senior Ladies in 2017. Just as I was coming out the doghouse last week, I was back in it for not mentioning the results of the Ladies Autumn meeting Bronze division which Enid Roberts won with 104-25-79 and Bronze B which I'm pleased to say Joan Harper won with 111-36-75.

This week's Hancock Trophy was won by Pam Darch with a net 75 who beat Barbara Henshaw on a card playoff. The Ladies Stableford alongside was won by Gill O'Neill with 30 points on a card playoff from Debbie Roberts.

Those of you who haven't entered the Winter League please remember the entries close this weekend so please pop in the shop to enter.

New in the shop this week we have some Ashworth shirts on clearance reduced from £45 to £29.99 and we have a deal on at 2 for £50 whilst stocks last. Also some Callaway Stand and Trolley bags at some great prices and some new Galvin Green Insula Fleeces as well as Waterproof Hats Bobble hats Snoods and Gloves.

I will have available till Monday the G30 range of drivers fairway woods & hybrids as well as all the PING Glide wedges and selected models of putters for anyone to try so please pop in.

Please remember that next week we are starting work with the Graden machine on the Greens weather permitting Tuesday afternoon which will take Wednesday and Thursday to complete. We are looking for some volunteers to help transport some of the sand which the machine uses to the greens around the course. This operation takes longer than hollowtining so Temporary greens will be in use while this work is being done and the greens will be put back on as soon as possible. We did carry out this work a number of years ago when our thatch levels were within 20mm of the surface which is the depth the machine goes too.
This will be followed by rolling and more top dressing to make the surfaces as smooth as possible.

This is a first advertising a car in my newsletter but after an email last week offering a new Mercedes at a ridiculously low price. I followed it up thinking there must be a catch somewhere.. It turned out there wasn't so my Saab is now looking for a new owner if any of you are interested.

I have had it from new and its 8 years old a Saab 9-3 Diesel with 78000 miles on the clock and has been serviced regularly by Brian Dingwall. It has been valued at by Auto Trader £2970 but I would be more than happy with £2250 for a quick sale and if any of you are interested please don't hesitate to contact me.
